Quien no ha escuchado acerca de hacer un voluntariado en el extranjero. Hoy en día es una de las actividades más populares antes de entrar a la universidad ó incluso después de haber terminado tu estudios. Hacer un trabajo de voluntariado se interpreta como su nombre lo dice, trabajar en algún proyecto u organización de manera voluntaria, lo cual significa que no vas a recibir dinero a cambio. Sin embargo, muchas de las organizaciones y convenios establecen un dinero de bolsillo el cual será entregado de manera mensual a los voluntarios para ayudarlos a sustentar sus gastos en el extranjero, dependiendo del país de origen y el país de destino.
Ahora que ya vimos de manera general lo que es un voluntario vayamos a las ventajas al hacer un voluntariado.
Oportunidad de conocer otro país. Muchas veces tenemos el deseo de viajar a otro país, pero por una estancia más larga a la permitida de turista, es por eso que el voluntariado es la mejor opción la mayoría de los proyectos te aceptan por un tiempo mínimo de 6 meses hasta 1 año.
Conocer una nueva cultura, costumbres y tradiciones. Si bien siempre es cómodo estar en tu país de origen, el hacer un voluntariado en el extranjero ampliara tu panorama de como pueden ser otras culturas, costumbres y tradiciones ó simplemente la manera de vivir en otros países en cuanto a música, comida, conductas sociales etc. Eso sin duda alguna te servirá en el futuro y se quedará para siempre como un aprendizaje al que no todos tienen la oportunidad o el coraje de hacer.
Aprender otro idioma. Hacer un voluntariado en el extranjero también te puede dar la oportunidad de aprender otro idioma. No hay nada mejor que tener la posibilidad de practicar otro idioma en el país originario así co o comunicarte con personas de diferentes países, compartir historias, experiencias de vida etc.
Viajar barato. La mayoría de los voluntariados te consiguen hospedaje ó te consiguen una familia con la cual puedan vivir. Al mismo tiempo los proyectos estas obligados a darte de comer y alguna veces pagarte el ticket de transporte lo cual te ayuda a economizar y viajar de manera económica dentro o fuera del país deseado.
Hacer amigos de todo el mundo. Esta es una de las ventajas que te traerá el hacer un programa de voluntariado, porque vas a tener la oportunidad de conocer personas de todo el mundo (no únicamente las personas del país receptor) y que va de la mano de conocer otras culturas, personas y diferentes formas de pensamiento.
Te da experiencia antes ó después de terminar la Universidad. Dependiendo de tu situación, pero muchas universidades e incluso trabajos toman mucho en cuenta la experiencia que hayas tenido previa o ó posterior al haber terminado la Universidad y un programa de voluntariado le puede dar un plus a tu currículum a la hora de querer encontrar un empleo o aplicar para alguna universidad, incluso hacer que te acepten par realizar practicas profesionales.
Al final del día hacer un voluntariado en una experiencia inigualable, que no podrás imaginar hasta el día que lo vivas. Cambia la Narrativa hacia un reto personal de romper la rutina y proponerte la meta de salir de tu país para conocer otro. Te darás cuenta que es una experiencia que no se vive dos veces y algo de lo que te vas a sentir orgulloso y no te vas a arrepentir.

Advantages of volunteering abroad
Who hasn’t heard about volunteering abroad. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular activities before entering university or even after finishing your studies. Doing volunteer work is interpreted as its name says, working on a project or organization voluntarily, which means that you will not receive money in return. However, many of the organizations and agreements establish pocket money which will be given monthly to volunteers to help them cover their expenses abroad, depending on the country of origin and the country of destination.
Now that we have seen in general what a volunteer is, let’s go to the advantages of volunteering.
Opportunity to get to know another country. Many times we have the desire to travel to another country, but for a longer stay than that allowed as a tourist status. This is the reason why volunteering is the best option. Most projects accept you for a minimum period of 6 months to 1 year.
Know a new culture, customs & traditions. Although it is always comfortable to be in your home country, volunteering abroad will broaden your panorama of what other cultures, customs and traditions may be like or simply the way of living in other countries in terms of music, food, social behaviors. etc That will undoubtedly serve you in the future and will remain forever as a learning experience that not everyone has the opportunity or the courage to do.
Learn another language. Volunteering abroad can also give you the opportunity to learn another language. There is nothing better than having the possibility of practicing another language in the native country as well as communicating with people from different countries, sharing stories, life experiences, etc.
Travel with low-cost. Most volunteers programs find you accommodation or find you a family with whom you can live. At the same time, the projects are obliged to feed you and sometimes pay for your transportation ticket, which helps you save money and travel economically within or outside the receptor country.
Make friends from all over the world. This is one of the advantages that doing a volunteer program will bring you, because you will have the opportunity to meet people from all over the world (not only people from the receiving country) which is related with the fact of get to know other cultures, people and different ways of thinking.
Get experience before or after finishing University. Depending on your situation, but many universities and even jobs take a lot into account the experience you have had before or after finishing university and a volunteer program can add a plus to your resume when it comes to finding a job or apply to a university or internships.
At the end of the day, volunteering is an unparalleled experience that you won’t be able to imagine until the day you experience it. Change the Narrative towards a personal challenge of getting out of your routine and setting yourself the goal of leaving your country and getting to know another. You will realize that it is an experience that you cannot live twice and something that you will feel proud of and you will not regret.
